is there a free cell phone number lookup website?

Is there a web site that u can search cell phone numbers using a name (like search bob smith and get the cell number) that u can search for FREE (in canada or usa). I need it cuz I need to search up my friend’s cell number rly badly. thanx!

Anyone know of reliable cell phone number lookup companies?

I am trying to do a reverse cell phone lookup. I am willing to pay, but want to make sure the company is reliable and see if any offer membership (for a discount). I have come across a few companies: Intellius, CIS, Web Investigator, USA People Search, etc.

I’ve used Intellius and USA People Search. Intellius said they had a cell phone number for my wife. She never had a cell phone and she’s been dead for 6 years. USA People Search got it right about 50% of the time.

This consumer guide website recommends 3 not on your list. I have no personal experience with any of them.

What are this called?

in a reverse phone search what is the thing where it would say a long version of a telephone compony. (for example when i lookup my cell number i get “SPRINT SPECTRUM L.P. DBA VIRGIN MOBILE USA” and when i lookup my home number i get “PACTECH COMMUNICATIONS DBA OOMA” what is that name called.

When numbers are assigned, a company had to apply for the numbers through the North American Planning Administration NANPA. For example, in our area, United Telephone still exists, so we get Century Link dba United Telephone of Ohio or some such thing. As these companies are absorbed, merge, or traded, you get those things. One such aggressive VoIP carrier is Level 3. They buy up smaller companies so you get the original name and Level 3 as the holding company. Virgin Moble must be the result of Sprint and United Telespectrum. Nextel/Sprint and Alltel/Verizon and AT&T and the flavor of the month (oh T-Mobile) will create some interesting names in the NANPA.
