How do I trace a text back to the number it came from?
Ok, so I have been receiving text messages from my boyfriend’s number, but its not him who is texting. These texts are really bad and have many derogatory words and slander in them. I know it isn’t him because we were sitting together and my phone went off saying I had a text from him when his phone was actually off. I texted back and a reply came back within minutes. I don’t know what to do. Before I realized it wasn’t him, we almost broke up and had a huge fight. Is there anyway I can get a trace on the number or find out the actual number it is coming from? My friends say that there are applications out there that can change your number to reflect it as someone else’s. Please help!!!!!
If I report this to the police, they’ll think I’m crazy or trying to pull a joke. These texts aren’t life or death threatening, but they are highly inappropriate. Also, I cant block the number because I don’t even know what it is.
I don’t think there is much you can do to trace a spoofed SMS text message, you should contact your phone service provider and make a complaint.
